COSTUME PREVIEW.. TARZAN!!!

These past couple weeks have been so tough trying to finish up the costumes for TARZAN. Many nights staying up past 4am in order to get in as many hours necessary so the costumes are ready in time. We had some help from our castmates a couple days last week and they got a taste of what really goes into costuming a show. I'm pretty sure we scared away some of the people that came the first day because there were considerably less people the second day... LOL.

Each show has presented it's costume challenges and this show is no different. This time it's gorillas and plants and we never take the easy route when it comes to costumes. We always go for what we think will look the best! Sometimes that means we have to work a little harder and longer but it all ends up worth it. The first costume fitting is coming up and we are almost done with everything... thank goodness!!! Here are some pictures of what we've been working on..

Building Tarzan's Lego Dreams

Hey everybody We are back to another great Thursday with this guy right here. So if you can believe it we are just twenty six days away from the opening of Tarzan the musical! Just yesterday we had a bunch of cast members come over and help make the costumes. We are trying to finish all of the costumes by this Sunday so I feel like my sisters have a few more 4am night ahead of them. I don't know how they do it but they do and the costumes are really looking great! Now Jewel and I are kinda in the calm before the storm for the show right now. We just finished making the designs for the set. This took a lot of trial and error if think we made and remade the set about seven times. Now we finally got the one we wanted and are ready to dive in and start building it for real. Since it is just the two of us doing all the designs this time  we decided to do it a little different. It was my idea to build our set out of Lego's and it worked perfectly. we decided on the size each one would be and built models of our set to scale size. It was one of my best ideas ever. Thing is building it in real life is whole other story, its gonna be a lot of work. Luckily one of the fathers of a cast member is a contractor and is gonna help us build the whole thing. We always have such a helpful cast and a bunch of the fathers and brothers come help us out. Although all of them may not be that able it's the time and effort we appreciate which makes this a better experience for everyone. Now its time to crack down and start the real work getting ready for move in, lets do it.

Rise

                                            RISE

Last Friday was easton talent show. It was one of the many things I had going around up until last week. Cello ensemble, end of orchestra, Muhlenberg busy work, Sing For America shows ,and the monster Tarzan were all pulling my attention.
The talent show song was "I Believe I Can Fly" which I mixed with "Castles" by B.o.B. I was so excited to do this but like always I procrastinated. On top of this, Jorne refused to work with me even though we were performing together. It was a good tiny wake up of what not to let happen in larger projects and clearly illuminated some problems to work on. In the end, even though our music cut in and out continuously, it was a really fun performance and we got some serious cheers!

The real story of the night was Toyo and Tolu. They sang like I've only heard my three sisters before. When 2 or three individually exceptional voices sing together its awesome but when those voices beautifully blend, highlight perfectly each others talents, are unified in a way that can't be taught, and make every ear turn up to allow this pure music to enter like a single instrument played by a master then we are talking a new ballgame. All of that was still secondary to what was truly remarkable, the song "Rise" by the Mcclain Sisters was sung in a way that the entire auditorium knew they could rise, they could believe. That effect on people is the only true measure of talent. Range, tone, control all mean nothing if you can't move a crowd. The beautiful part was we were moved to Rise to the End all Be all; Father,Son, and Holy Spirit. I am beyond proud to say we have both of these gifted ladies in Tarzan this summer. You do NOT want to miss them.

Live Like You Are Dying

Hello everybody, today has been a real hard day for me and my family. A very dear friend of ours has passed away and his funeral was today. He was Jewels first real best friend growing up and losing someone that close is very hard especially when he is just at the age of nineteen. His mom was also one of the girls first dance teachers, so this family was very close to us. There was no warning for his passing, he wasn't sick or anything, which just added to the impact of it all. It really goes to show you that you need to cherish the people you know and love because you never know how long you will have them. Sometimes Gods plan is not the plan you want or think you need but in the end everything happens for a reason and that is something we have to accept. God has welcomed this young man into His kingdom I'm sure of it. He was a really good kid and it helps me to know that there is one more angel watching over me. So please everyone send your prayers to this kid  and his family, who really needs them during this tough time. His name is Zachary Sedler so please everyone do what you can. Thank you and never take for granted those that you love because before you know it they could be gone with no warning. It reminds me of a song that I really like called Live Like You're Dying. If you do this you can't go wrong.

Denzel Washington's Fire

There is not to much to add to this. Denzel Washington is speaking to a group of actors and it is obvious he just felt the Spirit and had to unleash Him. As soon as any human fully embraces what is said in this video all feelings of doubt, uncertainty, anger , failure , discontent , etc  in relation to their life path disappear. When we accept this we will have an uncontrollable fire within. It's a fire that's wants to burn, to love.
You see we can not feel this love in a completely selfish goal, or a goal you want to reach for selfish reasons. One may still achieve it but that will be a path which must be fueled by other emotions pride, jealousy, anger, vengeance, or greed. On this path there is nothing to pick us back up when we stumble, only a devil to pull us down further.
I have felt this fire and want to continuously let it burn but often I put it out. I think most of us do. I guarantee you reading this are so much more than even your closest friends believe, I bet you feel such strong desires for good and yet squash them consistently for fear of nonacceptance and/or failure. Dreams are ridiculed by the bitter who ignore theirs because they have no faith in it, God, or themselves. These emotions you keep bottled up is God's Holy Spirit trying to guide you to your vocation, whether that is being a moral movie star or opening a fair philanthropic business (whether a tree service or law firm) your passion is your tool to bring your love, God's Love, into the world to change it with each human you touch.
This is my biggest emotional investment here at SingForAmerica, this is what I want to give to others, that fire that Holy Fire to spread throughout the earth. From here on we will discuss this at rehearsals.

I will try and let my Fire burn bright, now it is your turn
